Dr. Sharma is a Senior Cardiovascular and Thoracic surgeon, actively involved in heart, chest, and vascular disease management with pediatric and adult open-heart surgeries, beating heart bypass surgeries and advance cardiac failure management for the last 35 years, including last 30 years at various hospitals in Bangalore (The Bangalore Hospital, Sagar Hospitals and others).
He has been conducting various free cardiac disease management camps for the last 35 years and believes in offering his knowledge and experience to anyone in need.

Dr. Sharma has Worked at the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, Apollo Hospital, Chennai with Dr M R Girinath (M.ch., FRACS), a legendary cardiac surgeon and was involved in over two thousand open heart surgeries and bypass surgeries including bypass on fibrillating heart over a period of 2.5 years (1986 to 1988)
Dr. Sharma established the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery with active open-heart surgery and bypass surgery on fibrillating heart program at Central India Institute of Medical Sciences (CIIMS) Nagpur, the first Super-Speciality hospital in Central India 1988-89.
He established the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery with active open-heart surgery and bypass surgery on fibrillating heart program, including thoracic and vascular surgery at Y.D. Hospital, Bangalore, India, the first Super-Speciality hospital of the Karnataka State, January 1990 and continued working onward.
Dr. Sharma worked as a visiting Professor, Cardiac Surgery at the St. Vincent Hospital, Starr-Wood Group, Portland, Oregon, USA in 1996 (Oregon license no.: 6708, 1996-97).
Dr. Sharma is a Visiting Cardiac Surgeon to various departments of Cardiovascular Surgery and Heart Lung Transplant units including Cleveland Clinic (Cleveland, Ohio), Stanford Hospital (California), St Louis Hospital (St. Louis, Missouri) and ‘Beating Heart Bypass Surgery Unit’ at Lenox Hill Hospital (New York)
Dr. Sharma has conducted free cardiac diseases management sessions in Zambia. (Health Professions Council of Zambia, LRC no.: 0526)
Dr. Sharma is a true academician and holds great interest in Scientific Research and has presented various papers at National and International Conferences and has been awarded ‘Best Paper Presentation’ at few. He has published various papers such as a rare case report of successful diagnosis and surgical management of ‘Myxoma of tricuspid valve’,1990 in The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, official journal of The American Association of Thoracic Surgery.
Dr. Sharma is a firm believer of the benefitting effects of YOGA on physical and mental health and thus has been practicing and advocating the same for the last 40 years to his patients.
